Bud Soccer: Sidekicks Only Undefeated Team Going Into Holiday Break

Guam - With a 5-2 win over Big Blue in Week 7 action of the Budweiser Soccer League at the Guam Football Association National Training Center, the Sidekicks remain as the only undefeated team in the league going into the holiday break.

Guam (December 21, 2013) The Southern Dolphins added another Championship to their trophy case this year beating the JFK Islanders 1-0 for the IIAAG Boys Soccer title at the GFA field in Harmon. Donny Reyes scored on a penalty kick in the 8th minute of the 1st half for the only goal of the game. Reyes was named Player of the Game, selected to the All Island Team, and was also named League MVP.

VIDEO: Raiders Stay Undefeated

Guam (December 22, 2013) The Guam Raiders are still undefeated in the Budweiser Football League beating the Hal's Angels 28-8 at Eagles Field in Mangilao. The Raider defense scored first on an 30 yard interception return by Joe John Quinata in the 2nd quarter. Danny Cepeda threw two touchdown passes both to Alex Azcarraga, and Matt Javier dove in for another one as the Raiders go to 5-0 on the season. S.P. Phillips connected on a 23 yard pass to Ysu Mendiola in the 3rd quarter for the lone Angels toouchdown. The Angels are even at 2-2.

Sunday San Miguel Basketball League Action Up At Yigo Gym

Guam (December 22, 2013) The San Miguel Basketball League back in action up at the Yigo Gym. In the nightcap after a full day of ten games on the schedule, in Division II play, L.A. Painting edged out COSLA 61-59. After trailing 31-22 at the half, L.A. Painting came back behind Jayrald Yu's 22 points to ensure they stay undefeated. COSLA's Charlie Bombase also had 22 points, with teammates Hayden Queno adding 15, and Russell Manabat dropping in 10. L.A. Painting's Bobet Maceda netted 13 points. In other games around the SMBL:

Fight Fans Treated To Boxing & KickBoxing Matches At Guam Greyhound Park

Guam (December 21, 2013) The Guam International Boxing Council (GIBC) held some bouts over at the Guam Greyhound Park in Tamuning. There were four Kickboxing matches and five Boxing matches to entertain several hundred fight fans. In two of the opening Kickboxing fights, Michael Sanchez from Elite Muay Thai Club defeated Ethan Reyes from Ultimate Martial Arts Club. In the other match, Elliot Untalan from Ground Fu Club defeated Jay Ilano from Ultimate Martial Arts.

Battle of Defeated Yields A Winner In Bud Football League

Guam (Decemb er 21, 2013) The Islanders remain the only winless team in the Budweiser Football League. The Steelers got their first win of the season defeating the Islanders 19-0 at Eagles Field. The Steelers got on the board in the second quarter when Dom Karaskas hit Tyler Santos on a 25 yard touchdown pass. It was Steelers 6-0 at halftime. The Steelers got another touchdown off a one yard plunge by Brandon Burgos just befor the third quarter ended, and then sealed the win with a 28 yard run by Keanu Lujan in the 4th quarter. The Steelers are now 1-3, while the Islanders are 0-4.
   

2013 Christmas Holiday Youth Baseball Hitting Academy

The 2013 Christmas Holiday Youth Baseball Academy will be all about hitting a baseball. The four day academy is designed to educate and drill players using a “building block” approach to develop their hitting skills. Coaches will drill on lower and upper body mechanics specific to hitting a baseball. Players will be challenged on the field during the drills with live pitching.

Players will also be exposed to new methods; back side hitting creating torque, hip and arm coordination, bat control,
balance and ball tracking. (vision)
This three day specialized hitting academy is for baseball hitters who are serious about beginning or improving their baseball
hitting progression. Players will go through two sessions of intense training during each academy day.
Each four day hitting academy will be tailored to specific age groups with the first three days of the academy at the Leo Palace fields
and the 4th and Ove, the players will get to end the day relaxing at the Leo Palace water park. Great opportunity for Guam’s youth to work on their baseball skills and have fun at the same time during the holiday break! 
Academy #1 – Ages 11 & 12 year old years
December 21-24, 2013 – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (day 4 half day at Strike Zone Batting Cages, 8:30-12:30) 
Academy #2 – Ages 13 years & up
December 27-30, 2013 – 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (day 4 half day at Strike Zone Batting Cages, 8:30-12:30)
