“Our parent company (VSE) and our corporation’s commitment to Guam is long-term,” said Carl Williams, ICRC President and COO. “We want to invest in the people we hope to hire to manage our projects here on the island.”

“We are excited to be partnering with such a prestigious firm,” said Victor Rodgers, GCC assistant director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development. “We are coordinating efforts with ICRC to offer several certificate level courses that will enhance the workforce level in Guam’s construction industry. We want the federal contractors, who come to Guam, to realize that they won’t need to bring in outside people to manage their projects. The locals here are more than qualified to handle the job,” Rodgers said.

ICRC is a diversified technical and management services company that serves the government market with engineering, professional and construction services.

Proceeds from the ICRC endowment will provide scholarships for people to take the new Basic Project Management course at GCC. The course cost is $1,000, which Rodgers says is a better deal than most project management certification preparation courses.

“This course is ideal for professionals who wish to pursue Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) from PMI® (Project Management International)” said Rodgers.

The first GCC Basic Project Management Course started Sept. 7 and will run through Nov. 4, Tu-Thu 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at GCC. Instructors: Dr. Karri Perez, University of Guam; and Clarence V. Lagutang, Project Manager/Mechanical Engineer for Capital Improvements, NAVFAC. For details, call GCC’s Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development at 735-5574.
