Guam - It was her first time to travel away from home alone, and Laurana Quichocho learned not only how to travel, but make new friends in the process.

Quichocho, a student at Guam Community College and Guam’s selection to the annual FOX American Indian Summer Institute (AISI), spent one week along with two dozen other students from around the country in Los Angeles to learn about film production as well as career opportunities in the film industry. She participated in “speed networking” events, and in the process gained valuable skills she could use to further her career.
Quichocho stayed with the other students at the Loyola Marymount University. Their final product is a 30 second Public Service Announcement on the environment.
Last year, two students from Guam, Kyle Perron and Nico Serneo, were selected to intern at FOX in Los Angeles. Their project involved the production and editing of a 30 second public service announcement for the 2010 Census.
PIC Guam Board members Jackie Marati (Bank of Guam Senior Vice President/Marketing) and Joey Munoz (Guam Community College Chair, Criminal Justice and Social Sciences Department) solicited applications from the community and assisted PIC in the selection process.
