Health and Social Services Fair: August 21 - 22

Guam News - Community Events

Guam - The Office of the Governor, the Guam Buildup Office, and the Civilian Military Task Force’s Subcommittee on Health and Social Services will be hosting an Island Wide Health and Social Services Fair on Saturday August 21st at the Agana Shopping Center, and Sunday August 22nd at the Micronesia Mall from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at both locations.

The Health and Social Services Fair will help create awareness of  Guam’s 5-Year Health and Social Service Strategic Plan and provide a chance for the public to give their input on the development of that plan. Information on Guam’s healthcare services and free health screenings will also be provided for those visiting the fair.

The 5-Year Health and Social Service Strategic Plan for Guam is the next phase in our planning efforts to address not only the military buildup, but provide a plan to comprehensively address the entire health and social service system and its needs as we prepare for the future.

In 2007, the Subcommittee on Health and Social Services was formed by Governor Felix Camacho and Lieutenant Governor Michael Cruz to address the implications of the Guam Buildup.  The fair will highlight the important work completed by the subcommittee over the last three years as it relates to the impacts of the buildup and the island’s natural growth.  In addition, results of the needs assessment prepared by the subcommittee, which is the basis for the 5-Year Health and Social Service Strategic Plan, will be on display.

Organizations and individuals who are interested in participating are encouraged to email guamhssfair@mail.com or call 646-3448 for more information.
