Guam- Is there no one that can brave the Braves? After beating every team in the first round, the Moylan's O.D.C. Braves extended their streak to eight after defeating the Docomo Reds 7-3 in eight innings.
The Braves started off the night with two unearned runs in the top of the second inning. Then in the third, they added 3 more runs on 4 hits that was pushed by John Sarmiento's 2 RBI double. It was a 5-0 lead that the Reds would never recover from.
The Reds would chip away at the lead with one run in the third and one run in the fifth. But they left two crucial runners stranded on base. In the sixth and seventh, the Braves would tag on a total of two runs.
Reds' John Ric Mendiola had a highlight of the night with a solo shot over the fence in the eighth.
J.P. Aguon was awarded with the win on the mound with 3 strikeouts. Braves' Pete Concepcion went 1-3 with a run. Glenn Fernandez went 1-2 with a run and Tony Doyle was 1-4 with 2 runs and a RBI. John Barnes got the loss with 3 strikeouts. Reds' Darryl Delgado went 1-2 with 2 runs and Mendiola was 1-4 with a run, a RBI and a homerun.
Tonight the Gatorade Giants will challenge the Bank of Guam A's at Paseo Stadium at 7:00pm.
In other B.B.L. News, the protested and regular season game between the A's and the A.K. Islanders was called off last Thursday due to rain. The league has determined to play both make-up games at the end of the regular season.
Plus, there will be try outs for the Guam National Baseball Team this Sunday at Paseo Stadium at 9:00am. All interested baseball players are encouraged to show up at the field.
