Guam - Guam police subdued an irate woman with a machete after a four hour standoff Saturday morning in Dededo.
Acting GPD Spokesman Officer Paul Tapao reports that about 6:30am the Dededo Precinct got a call for assistance from a Guam Fire medical unit that asked for help with a woman who was reportedly "uncooperative" at a home in Dededo.
The woman was an out patient from the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse.
Officers arrived and found "an irate female holding a machete."
GPD's Crisis Negotiation Team [CNT] was called in. The members of the team are Lt. Mark Torre, Sgt. Emily Charfarous and Sgt. Michael Aguon. GPD's Special Operations Command (SWAT) was also brought in out of concern that the woman might harm herself, or someone else.
After 4 hours of talking between the Crisis Negotiating Team and the woman, Officer Tapao reports that SWAT eventually subdued her without further incident. She was taken to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment.
