Guam - A fire broke out early this morning at the Global Recycling Center in Dededo--the second time within 6 months.
Guam Fire acting Spokesman Kevin Reilly tells PNC that the call came in around 2 am. GFD Engines 4, 12 and 10 were on the scene, as well as a tanker from Andersen Air Force Base Fire Department. The fire was put out around 4:20 am, but the site was still smoldering at daybreak.

Guam EPA acting Spokesman Glenn San Nicolas says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, he notes that arson is also being looked into. He says that Global Recycling owners reported a rash of burglaries and vandalism in recent weeks. Reilly says the fire broke out at the same area where the last fire occurred on September 17 last year."Burning is a lot of appliances, discarded appliances and metal," says Reilly.
San Nicolas adds that the investigation will determine whether Global was in compliance at the time of the fire. From there, Guam EPA will determine whether a citation will be issued to the recycling facility.
