Guam News - Guam News

Guam - At exactly 10:18 this morning GovGuam employees, residents and students islandwide dropped, covered and held on for the 2012 Great Guam Shakeout.

It was part of the largest earthquake drill in history.  An estimated 8 million others signed up to participate in the global preparedness effort which highlights the safety procedures to follow in the event of an earthquake, "Drop, Cover and Hold On."

The local effort was sponsored by Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) which is encouraging all residents to increase earthquake preparedness and response by practicing how to protect themselves during an earthquake and how to take the necessary steps to ensure an earthquake disaster doesn’t become a catastrophe.
