UOG Grads Achieve 100% 1st Time Pass Rate on Nursing Exam, Surpassing National Average

Guam News - Guam News

Guam - University of Guam Nursing graduates and the Nursing program celebrate the 100% first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for 23 nursing graduates who earned their Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010. All graduates passed the exam the first time they took the test. These results surpass the national average of 89% for 2010 nursing graduates across the nation.

“I congratulate each of our 2010 graduates for their hard work and dedication to their nursing education,” said Kathryn Wood, UOG School of Nursing Acting Director.  “Guam’s nursing professionals and the community as a whole can share in the celebration of this moment. Our nursing students receive their clinical experiences at GMH and in clinics around the island under the guidance of experienced Registered Nurses so the success of our students is truly a community success.  We also acknowledge the contribution made by Take Care each year for nursing education and NCLEX-RN prep courses.”

School of Nursing graduates must pass the NCLEX-RN to become licensed to practice nursing.  Success on NCLEX-RN is a benchmark that indicates that the candidates have the competencies to safely provide care.

The last time the UOG Nursing graduates achieved a 100% first-time pass rate was in 2003.
