Guam - Dr. Dianne Strong has written a biography called “Witness to War: Truk lagoon’s master diver Kimiuo Aisek.”
The Chuuk lagoon formerly known as the Truck lagoon is well known as a mecca of wreck diving with what is called it's ghost fleet of Japanese ships that were sunk there during WWII. Aisek is credited with creating the wreck dive industry on Chuuk as he was the first to show divers where all the Japanese wrecks from WWII are located.
Much has been written about the wrecks of the Chuuk lagoon but nothing has been written about Aisek. Dr. Strong was on K57's breakfast show with Ray Gibson this morning which was broadcast live from the historic Lujan house in Hagatna.

"He was a very very polite gentleman who treated everyone like family it wasn't about money it was about being an islander showing hospitality and trying to preserve for his beloved islanders the legacy of the lagoon from the war to take from the war something of beauty to bring joy to others,” said Dr. Strong. She is seeking funding to publish this book and she has set up a donation drive on kickstarter.com. Filmaker James Cameron is an avid diver of the Chuuk lagoon and he wrote the foreword of the book.
