The statue and its surrounding have recently been given a face-lift by 17 year old Brendon Moore and the volunteers he brought together to help repaint the monument, repair its cracks, install new lights, pull out weeds and replant new shrubs and grass around the statue.
The effort was part of Moore's Eagle Scout project and it took a week and a half of work by more than two-dozen volunteers.
Dim lights Embed Embed this video on your siteThe idea for the project was suggested by Parks and Rec historian Tony Ramierez who pointed out that the original Statue of Liberty was donated to Guam by the Boy Scouts of America back in 1952.
