VIDEO: Eagle Scout Project Restores Shine and Pride to Liberty Statue at Paseo

Guam News - Guam News

Guam - A wreath was laid Friday commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Statue of  Liberty at the Paseo.

The statue and its surrounding have recently been given a face-lift by 17 year old Brendon Moore and the volunteers he brought together to help repaint the monument, repair its cracks, install new lights, pull out weeds and replant new shrubs and grass around the statue.

The effort was part of  Moore's Eagle Scout project and it took a week and a half of work by more than two-dozen volunteers.

The idea for the project was suggested by Parks and Rec historian Tony Ramierez who pointed out that the original Statue of Liberty  was donated to Guam by the Boy Scouts of America back in 1952.
