In his remarks Governor Eddie Calvo said the renovations of the dilapidated facilities into homes and a resource center are part of his plan to revitalize the island.
“So what was once a breeding ground for rats and where drug deals were made now, a year and half latter we're going to have a Village Resource Center,” the Governor said.
The project is funded through $650,000 in funding from the U.S. Department Of Housing And Urban Development.
