New Zealand Pacific Mission to New Caledonia Visits SPC

Guam News - Guam News

Noumea, New Caledonia - New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully met with Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) Director-General Dr Jimmie Rodgers at SPC headquarters in Noumea, New Caledonia, Friday to discuss New Zealand’s programme of support to SPC, regional priorities and the recent independent review of SPC.

Mr McCully led a delegation – consisting of parliamentarians and representatives of business and civil society – that also held a bilateral meeting at SPC’s conference facility with New Caledonia counterparts to explore opportunities to strengthen ties to New Zealand’s closest Pacific neighbour.

New Zealand is a founding member of SPC and an important funder of the regional organisation.

The stop in New Caledonia is part of New Zealand’s annual Pacific Mission, which earlier visited Tonga and Niue. This is the second visit by the Minister to New Caledonia and SPC..
