TRAFFIC ADVISORY: July 29 - August 5, 2012
Route 4 (from McDonalds to Route 10)
Construction has resumed on this project with lane closures planned from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday for the next several weekends. Drivers should plan for lane shifts and reduced speeds when approaching the work sites as paving progresses.
Signage as well as safety and traffic personnel will be in place to ensure the safety of the workers and travelers in the construction area. Motorists are asked to use caution and to observe all construction signs and posted speed limits.
Route 1/ 8 (Hagåtña Bridges)
Intersection of Routes 1 and 4 in Hagåtña will be temporarily closed for approximately 9 hours from 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31 to 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes or to avoid the area during this time. Core Tech International will be relocating the traffic signals at the intersection to accommodate pile-driving equipment needed for the continuing reconstruction of the Agana Bridge. Southbound traffic on Route 1 will be diverted at the Route 8 Intersection to Chalan Santo Papa. Northbound traffic on Route 1 will be diverted at Aspinall Avenue to Chalan Santo Papa.
Route 1/ 16 (Micronesia Mall Intersection, Dededo)
From 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, through 6 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, construction crew will be repairing manhole covers at the Micronesia Mall and Marine Corps Drive intersection in Dededo.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane southbound on Marine Corps Drive but the left turn onto Route 16 will remain open. Traffic on Route 16 westbound heading to Marine Corps Drive toward Hagåtña will be restricted to one lane but the right lane heading toward Yigo will remain open.
Route 1/11 (Port Authority Road, Piti)
Lane shifts for motorists traveling southbound on Marine Corps Drive at the Port Authority Road Intersection area are in currently in effect. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and to obey all traffic signs in the area.
Route 4 Togcha and Talofofo Bridges (Talofofo and Inarajan)
The Togcha and Talofofo Bridges on Route 4 are open to two-lane traffic, however, motorists are advised that construction activities will continue on and around the bridge for several more weeks as the remaining work items are completed. Please be alert for construction activities in this area.
Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
The construction of piers on the Route 4 Ylig Bridge continues this week. Due to the proximity of the construction work to travel lanes, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures will be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour remains open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.
Route 7A (Hagåtña)
Route 7A in Hagåtña) is open to two-way traffic, however, this area remains an active construction zone. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and obey all traffic control signs along the site.
Route 17 (Talofofo)
Drivers can expect short delays and increased travel time as road construction work on Route 17 continues this week. Signage and safety personnel will be in place to ensure the safety of travelers.
Route 25 (Dededo)
Minor construction work will continue on Route 25. Motorists may experience shifts to narrow travel lanes and short traffic restrictions as the contractor completes work in the area. Drivers are advised to observe all traffic signage and be aware of safety personnel and construction workers on the road. Temporary lane closures can be expected and motorists are asked to proceed with caution and observe all traffic control signs posted along the construction area.
