Respicio asks Rev & Tax: ‘Do Guam’s health insurance companies follow Affordable Care Act guidelines?’
For Immediate Release
July 26, 2012
(Hagåtña, Guam) Majority Leader Rory J. Respicio today asked Guam’s Banking and Insurance Commissioner if Guam’s health insurance companies followed Affordable Care Act guidelines, specifically “with respect to coverage for pregnancies for dependents.”
Respicio wrote to Artemio Ilagan of the Department of Revenue and Taxation’s Regulatory Division, noting that under the Affordable Care Act, the extension of coverage for dependents up to age 26 includes pregnancies, if the subscriber’s policy includes pregnancies.
“Our community has a long-established pro-life policy that encourages bringing pregnancies to full term,” Respicio wrote. “Indeed, whenever possible, we should make it easier for pregnant women to give birth rather than resorting to the termination of a pregnancy.”
