Pay-Less Making Progress in Its "Mission Zero Bags" Campaign

Guam - Since the launch of the Mission Zero Bags (MOB) campaign at the end of January 2012, PayLess Supermarkets has eliminated the distribution of approximately 895,000 plastic bags from our landfill.

PayLess and its customers are over three quarters of the way to meeting the goal of the elimination of 1.1 million plastic bags on our island! In celebration of this landmark, the PayLess Markets Community Foundation (PMCF) is proud to announce the launch of the ‘MISSION: ZERO BAGS’ MINI GRANT PROJECT, geared to support those organizations that currently implement ‘GREEN’ projects in their respective communities.

These non-profit organizations, public/private schools and units of government agencies with ‘Green Initiatives’ are eligible to receive funds from a Mini-Grant totaling $5,000.00. A minimum of $1,000 will be available to various non-profit organizations on Guam, which will in turn benefit our island community. Funding for the grant comes from the purchase of brown bags on MOB days.

To apply for the MOB Mini-Grant funds, applicants may download an application at .missionzerobags.com or .paylessfoundation.com. Applications are also available at all PayLess locations. Deadline for proposals will be Deadline for proposals will be September 4, 2012.

In addition, PayLess will launch a ‘Go Green Celebration’ during the weeks of July 27th-August 8th to thank customers for their support of this Pay-Less environmental initiative. There will be daily specials, giveaways, product sampling and more! Also, on Wednesday August 1st & 8th all brown paper bags will be FREE with purchases.
