"This training is very important for anyone involved in the oversight, operation and maintenance of USTs. Their work supports key businesses and facilities like gas stations that are especially vital for our island community," said Guam EPA Administrator Eric M. Palacios. "The knowledge and skills gained in the training help protect the health and safety of every resident and visitor. The number of participants and diversity of the three classes shows businesses and government agencies recognize the importance of this training."
The training was organized by Michael O'Mallan, Don Quinata and Vince Pereira of Guam EPA's Hazardous Waste Management Program. The classes were conducted by Ben Thomas of UST Training.
There are a total of 133 UST facilities in Guam.
