The two men, 34-year old Heng Aik Han and 23 year old Jiunn Yang Tan, were magistrate in District Court Friday.
According to Guam police, the two men carried with them 17 credit cards all bearing the name Tan Jiunn Yan. With those credit cards, all of which were stolen, the two men were alleged to have purchased a Cartier watch for $8,370 and a Rolex watch for $9,300 dollars from the DFS Galleria in Tumon. Han was first apprehended at DFS when he attempted to purchase a Cartier watch for forty four hundred dollars. Fearing he had been caught, police said he tried to flee but was caught by store security.
Tan was later apprehended near the Bayview Hotel where he was staying. The two men confessed to purchasing the items but told police that they were put up to the job by a Malaysian creditor whom they both owed money to. Han and Tan both say the creditor propositioned them to leave the country to buy the expensive watches and bags. They said they met with a contact person at the airport who supplied them with the fake credit cards. The pair also admitted to stealing expensive bags during a stopover in Korea.The two were charged with attempted theft by deception, fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft.
Police confiscated hotel key cards, the Cartier watches, a Burberry bag, the Rolex watch, numerous cell phones, clothing, and the 17 credit cards.
