AG Now Reviewing Verga's Revised GMH Contract

Guam News - Guam News

Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital has sent back a revised contract seeking approval from the Attorney General's Office for incoming GMH Administrator Joseph Verga from Canada.

AGO Spokesperson Carlina Charfauros confirmed the AG's office is in receipt of the revised contract. The contract had been sent back by the AG's office to the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority Board of Trustees about two weeks ago. GMHA Board Chairman Lee Webber told PNC at the time that there may have been some legal issue surrounding the contract.

Charfauros says Attorney General Lenny Rapadas is currently reviewing the contract. The AG's office will also expedite the process to send the contract to Gov. Eddie Calvo for approval, she added. Verga was originally slated to start his first day on the job this past Sunday, July 1.

Charfauros could not provide details of the revised contract due to attorney-client privileges. However, the original contract provided for a three year term at $200,000 per year for Verga. Under the original contract, Verga's moving expenses would also be covered and he would be given a one month allowance of about $6,870.
