Guam - A water main break this morning [Tuesday] under Route 1 at the Hagatna River Bridge has already closed one lane of north-bound traffic and threatens to close another as GWA crews work to repair it.
Northbound traffic has been narrowed to just 1 lane which is backing up traffic traffic to Anigua.
GWA officials says that they will excavate the area around the break to see how big it is today and determine how long it will take to repair. As they do that, the second north-bound lane will have to be closed narrowing traffic to just one south and one north bound lane through Hagatna.
The repair work was scheduled for Tuesday night. Officials hope to have the leak repair before Wednesday morning, which is the July 4th Holiday.

DPW workers on the scene said they did not know and would not speculate on whether or not the construction on the Hagatna River Bridge might have caused the break.
However a release from DPW states that "Contractors have confirmed that the water leak was not caused by the current road construction project," but the release does not say what might have cause it.
