VIDEO: Filing Deadline Tuesday 5pm for 2012 Election

Guam - Democrat Karlo Dizon made it official Monday afternoon, filing his required paper-work for his bid to represent Guam in the U.S. Congress.

Dizon is challenging Guam's incumbent delegate Madeleine Bordallo who filed for re-election last month. Dizon and Bordallo will face off in the September first primary. The winner will face Republican Guam Senator Frank Blas Jr. in the General Election in November.

Also filing Monday was Bureau of Statistics and Plans Director Tommy Morrison who is making a run for a Guam Senate seat as a republican.

As of Monday afternoon, 15 Republicans and 13 Democrats had filed their papers as candidates for the Guam Legislature.

GEC Executive Director Maria Pangelinan says the deadline for filing is 5 pm Tuesday.

Following the deadline,  each candidates' petitions will have to be verified and a lottery will be held to determine the candidates placement on the ballot.

Pangelinan also reminds island residents the last day to register to vote in the primary election is August 22nd.
