Morrison hopes to be Guam’s first elected senator from Umatac

Hagatna, Guam. The Director of the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, Tommy Morrison, will file to run for Senator at 3:00 pm today at the Guam Election Commission. If elected in November, Morrison will be the first elected Guam Senator from the village of Umatac.
“I’m running for Senator because I want to make a difference in our community,” Morrison said. According to Morrison he wants to address key issues that he sees Guam’s families struggling with daily to include the rising cost of living, unemployment, better paying jobs, and the negative impact of substance abuse which has led to the deterioration of family values.
Tommy Morrison graduated from the University of Guam receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and has extensive experience in government leadership and public policy. He was a Research Assistant for then - Senator Kaleo Moylan and has served as the Director of Parks & Recreation, Executive Director of the Guam Contractor’s License Board, and presently serving as the Director of the Bureau of Statistics and Plans. He has been an active participant in Guam’s sport’s community.
“I believe my leadership experience in government will allow me to focus on issues that affect the common family on Guam. Guam voters are looking for fresh ideas and new leaders. I’m stepping up to this call,” Morrison said.
