Acting GPD Spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon says the incident occurred about 2:50 am.
The guest told police that he had left the door un-locked for his roommate, who was out late. The latch was out, preventing the door from closing fully. The 2 suspects are seen on the PIC's Closed Circuit TV [CCTV] footage entering the room. They rummaged through a closet just inside the door and took a bag and walked out of the room.
The guest told police that he was asleep at the time of the robbery but awoke at the noise, thinking it was his roommate returning. The guest said he got out of bed and went to the door but realizing his roommate had not returned. He opened the door and looked down the hall to seeing the 2 men with his bag.
The guest gave chase, but the suspects threw the bag to ground and got away. The guest retrieved the bag and returned to his room and called the front desk to report the incident.
It was later discovered that $150-$190 was stolen.
Sgt. Aguon says that police were able to identify 1 of the suspects from the videotape. They later located him and arrested 18 year old Larrin Ehmes Kelly.
Kelly has been booked and confined on charges of Burglary, Theft, Criminal Trespass and Conspiracy.
The other suspect is still at large.
