Navy Statement on Arrest of 2 Seamen

Guam - The Navy today [Wednesday] issued the following statement on the arrest of 2 seaman accused in an attempted armed robbery of a man on the Liberation Carnival ground Tuesday morning:

"On 26 June Guam Police Department requested Naval Criminal Investigative Service's assistance in an ongoing GPD investigation that lead to the
arrest of Seaman Justin Miska and Seaman Michael Mayers."

"The crimes Seaman Justin Miska and Seaman Michael Mayers allegedly committed are not compatible with our ethos and core values and do not reflect the high standards the Navy strives to maintain."

"The U.S. Navy will continue to work with our Government of Guam partners to ensure that 1each allegation of misconduct against U.S. Navy personnel is appropriately investigated, and when warranted, remedied through administrative and/or criminal action."
