Guam News - Guam News

Guam - Guam police officer Timothy E. Certeza has been arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge.

Acting Guam Police Spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon says that the complaint was filed on June 5th by the Office of  the Chief of Police and following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Section, Officer Certeza was arrested Friday. Certeza is assigned to the Hagatna Precinct.

The details of the alleged assault and the person who was the target of it have not been released. However Sgt. Aguon said that the Chief was not the victim, it was the Chief who received the information about the alleged assault.

Because the complaint was only a misdemeanor, Cereza was booked and released.

Sgt. Aguon says that an internal Affairs investigation is ongoing.

Officer Certeza remains at the Dededo Precinct and has been assigned to administrative duties.
