A large granite panel along the top section of the face of the monument honoring the marine's was dislodged and shattered.

This is the third time in the last three months the national park has been a victim of vandalism.

“Last week the restroom in Agat, the Ga'an point site, was broken into and all the metal flushers from the toilet were stolen as well as the door to the men's restroom,” Park Ranger Ben Hayes tells PNC. “Then in March our restroom here at Asan beach was broken into and the woman's restroom specially and the flushers were stolen in that restroom.”

Hayes hopes the community can help put a stop to vandalism in the park units.

“The public can help us out by being vigilant when you visit the parks looking for any suspicious activity and reporting it,” Hayes said. “Also if you have any leads you suspect call crime stoppers or the police.”
