TRAFFIC ADVISORY FOR APRIL 14 -22, 2012
Route 4 (Malojloj)
Alphalt friction course paving on the Route 4 and Dandan Road intersection in Malojloj is scheduled for this coming Saturday (April 14) and again on Monday (April 16) from 7 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Signage and traffic personnel will be in place to ensure the safety oftravelers through the area while the route is reduced to a single lane. Drivers are asked to remain alert and heed the direction of construction personnel or seek alternate routes.
North Guam Signalization
Work is continuing on the addition of the right turn lane on Wusstig Road at the intersection of Route 1. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution and observe all traffic control signs posted along the construction area.
Route 4 Togcha and Talofofo Bridges (Talofofo and Inarajan)
Drivers traveling on Route 4 at Talofofo Bridge are advised that traffic continues to be restricted to one lane. Temporary traffic lights are in place with timing monitored and adjusted to minimize delays. Increased travel time and short delays should be anticipated while driving through this construction zone.
The Togcha Bridge is open to two-lane traffic, however, motorists are advised that construction activities will continue on and around the bridge for several more weeks as the remaining work items are completed. Please be alert for construction activities in this area.
Route 4 Ylig Bridge (Yona)
Demolition of the existing bridge continues this week as well as the construction of pile caps. Due to the proximity of the construction work to travel lanes, intermittent traffic delays and lane closures will be required for the safety of motorists traveling in the area. The temporary bridge and detour remains open to traffic with a posted 15 MPH speed limit. Motorists are requested to observe the posted speed limit and all construction signs.
Residents around the Ylig Bridge area should expect possible GTA service interruptions until April 26 as a primary service line is relocated. Affected customers may experience short interruptions of approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour as this work is completed.
Route 6A (Murray Road) Asan
Route 6A Murray Road remains closed while construction work is in progress. Drivers are advised to observe all construction, detour and road closure signs.
Traffic in the construction area of Route 7A remains limited to one way westbound from Route 8 to Route 4 with motorists shifted to the new pavement from Tenbat Street to Route 4. Access to businesses along Route 7A will remain open.
Motorists are asked to proceed with caution, pay strict attention to traffic control signs posted along the construction area and be prepared to make lane shifts.
Route 8/10/16 (Tri-Intersection)
Motorists are advised that although all permanent lanes at the Tri-Intersection are open to traffic, the area remains a construction zone and all should proceed cautiously.
Route 16 GMF (Post Office)
Striping on the new pavement at the Route 16 GMF / Guam Army National Guam intersection is scheduled to continue this week. The contractor has planned lane closures during off-peak hours (9am-4pm). This planned schedule could change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Motorists are advised to observe all posted traffic control signs and proceed through the area with caution. Increased travel time and short delays should be anticipated while driving through this area
Route 17 (Talofofo)
Road construction continues at the intersection of Route 4 and Route 17. Drivers traveling through this area can anticipate shifting lanes, short one-lane closures and brief delays.
The contractor will be relocating street lights on Route 25 this week and may continue to the following week. Intermittent traffic delays are anticipated during off peak hours (9 a.m.- 4 p.m.). Drivers are advised to use caution and proceed slowly when driving through this construction area.
