Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo has agreed to gradually release the 15% of the Department of Education's budget which has been held in reserve. But he also says he is disappointed with the leadership at DOE for failing to take advantage of the opportunity to cut costs.

DOE Acting Interim Superintendent Robert Malay and the Legislature's Education Committee Chair Speaker Judi Won Pat say DOE has been working to cut its budget. They also conceded the need for more cuts. But they caution that process must be followed, and student interests must be protected.
