Guam Girl Scouts Celebrate Record Breaking Cookie Sales & Membership Growth

Guam News - Guam News

Guam - Record breaking cookie sales and significant growth in membership are just some of the big announcements coming from the Guam Girl Scouts today [Monday].

During a press conference at the Tamuning location of Infusion Coffee and Tea, the Girl Scouts announced the arrival of this year's Girl Scout Cookies. A new record of 73,584 boxes were sold this year, which is an increase of 18.4%. Jasmin Williams has been a Girl Scout for 3 years. She also talks about how 818 girls have joined the organization, which is an increase of 20.5% over the last year. She says the cookie program helps girls do anything they set their minds to do.

“This year the theme of the Girl Scout cookie program is 'What Can A Cookie Do?'” said Williams. “It reminds girls that they have the power to do anything they set their minds to do. We learn and grow and try new activities. We strengthen friendships, have new experiences and meet new people...all because of the proceeds from the cookie program.”

Also in support of the Guam Girl Scouts' Cookie Program, former Girl Scout and Infusion owner Mika Gibson says they have transformed classic Girl Scout Cookies into desserts. These new recipes will be featured through February at both Infusion locations.

“I'm very proud for our company to be a part of this day and this event. We will be featuring some classic girl scout cookies into our cupcake recipes” remarked Gibson. “We have a Mint Cha-Cha-Cha, which is a mint chocolate chip cheesecake featuring the Girl Scout Thin Mints. We have a Double deLite which is a chocolate caramel cupcake featuring the Caramel Delights cookies, as well as our classic lemon bars, which we are now using the Girl Scout Cookies Shortbread as the crust and with fresh calamansi.”

The Girls Scouts also recognized business supporters of the cookie program, which includes Cost-U-Less, V.Angoco's Trucking, Dickerson & Quinn and Matson Navigation.

Executive Director Vickie Fish tells PNC the pre-orders of the Girl Scout Cookies are being distributed in these next two weeks. However, she mentions to be on the lookout for cookies being sold later this month at Cost-U-Less, GPO, K-Mart and the commissaries on both bases.
