GCC Medical Assisting Open House TODAY

Guam - Students in the Medical Assisting program at Guam Community College are partnering with Department of Public Health officials to offer a volunteer community service Health Screening Open House TODAY, [Wednesday, December 28], from 9:00 A.M. to Noon in the Anthony A. Leon Guerrero Allied Health Center at GCC.
GCC MA students will be conducting blood pressure checks, and assisting health officials with blood sugar and cholesterol checks. Public Health’s Chronic Disease Program will provide the blood sugar and cholesterol supplies. Also, Public Health’s Immunization Division will provide certain immunizations. Dr. Vince Akimoto, GCC’s Medical Director, will be on site to oversee the health screening and open house.

The students will also be conducting Health Education power point presentations on the smart boards in the Medical Assisting classrooms. The Health Screening Open House is being conducted to showcase the GCC Medical Assisting program and highlight MA training and the tasks and duties of a certified Medical Assistant.
