Kwang Joong Kim, who is a nominee to the Marianas Visitors Authority board of directors, in a report from the Saipan Tribune said the CNMI needs to improve its tourism infrastructure including adding more tourist sites, upgrading existing hotels, and building new ones that will cater to high-end tourist markets.

Kim, who has 25 years experience in tourism and airline business, added that currently the CNMI’s hotels are old and out-of-date.

He said tourists have high expectations and don't want to stay in a hotel room that's old. He said the CNMI also needs efficient and affordable public transportation.

Kim, who is the president of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort, said he will also be working harder to further develop the CNMI as a golf destination in this part of the Pacific.
