Guam - The legislature's Utilities Committee Chair, Senator Tom Ada,  is considering legislation that would limit the island to just one-landfill.

The legislation is being developed in the wake of the Federal Receiver's warning to the court last week that permitting a second landfill would be a mistake. And the receiver has recommended adoption of law that would limit Guam to only 1 landfill.

If such a measure finally emerges from Ada's office and becomes law, it would de-rail GRRP's plans to build another landfill and waste to energy plant in Atentano.

The Senator told PNC News that he does not expect any legislation to be finalized until the end of the first quarter of next year.
