Zumba Fundraiser for Alee Shelter SATURDAY

Guam News - Community Events

Guam - Certified Zumba instructors Patrick Cruz, Rita Taitague, Karen Luzano, and Midori Taitague Sato have teamed up to volunteer their time to raise money for a noble cause, the Alee Shelter. A zumba fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, November 12, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Agana Heights gym. Admission is $5 per person.

With the holidays just around the corner, the group decided to do something extra for children placed at the Alee Shelter. Operational since 1993, the facility provides safety and refuge for children affected by child abuse or neglect or exposure to life-threatening situations. The Shelter also serves as a safe refuge for victims of rape and other sexual assault.

“We wanted to do something for the community and make the Holidays brighter for these children” said instructor Patrick Cruz. “Zumba’s popularity has rapidly grown, so why not get physically fit and make a difference in a child’s life at the same time? This is open to all ages so please come and join us” he added.

Children and staff from the Alee Shelter will also take part in this fundraiser. Certified Zumbatonic instructor Midori Taitague Sato will be doing several routines tailored just for the kids.

All proceed raised from the fundraiser will go towards the purchase of toiletries, clothing, and Christmas gifts for the Alee Shelter. Donations for nonperishable food, new clothing and new toys are also being accepted. The public is invited to join in on this worthy cause.

For more information, please contact Patrick Cruz at 488-2089, Rita Taitague at 487-4654 or the Alee Shelter at 649-2533.
