DMHSA Cuts The Ribbon On Partial Hospitalization Unit

Guam - The Department of Mental Health is embarking on new efforts to provide improved service to it's clients and one project recently completed was opened Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

 

A ceremony was held at the mental health facility to open the agencies new partial hospitalization unit The unit will offer consumers various recreational activities including access to cable television, board games, materials for artwork, computers, and table tennis and other sports equipment.

Director Dr David Shimizu says this is just one of many things to come. Shimizu says the primary focus is to provide improved services to the mental health clients while meeting the District Court mandates.

Judge Steve Unpingco oversees the mental health court and says the partnership with the department of mental health is a vital component in the recovery of the patients.

The partial hospitalization unit is located in the main mental health facility in Tamuning.
