Japanese Exchange Students Visit Merizo Elementary

Guam - Visitors from Kamiko Elementary School of the Saitama Prefecture of Japan are visiting Merizo Martyrs Elementary School Friday.

About 20 Japanese visitors gave a demonstration and conducted interactive activities with the Merizo students. And they donated an electric organ to the school.

Assistant Principal Silvino Quinene said the purpose of the visit was to exchange cultural experiences and nurture their sister-school relations with Merizo’school community. He said the Kamiko School representatives have been doing this for several years now.

“Some crucial themes of this event are to develop a relationship with our school community and to conduct a mutual exchange of cultural practices and artifacts. The impressions we leave our visitors with, will become the impressions they share with the potential visiting market of the Japanese community.” said Quinene.

The group also visited the Merizo Senior Citizens Center.
