UOG Green Hosts My Green Community Day FRIDAY

Guam News - Community Events

Guam - UOG Green will host My Green Community Day, an event featuring local farmers selling homegrown plants and produce, on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Jesus and Eugenia Leon Guerrero School of Business and Public Administration Building beginning at 9:00a.m.
Every last Friday of the month, UOG Green collects shredded paper from the UOG campus community and donates it to local farmers to be used as mulch.  This month’s collection will also include an opportunity for local farmers to sell their products such as fruits, vegetables, and small plants.

“My Green Community Day allows local farmers to showcase their homegrown products to customers,” said UOG Green Sustainability Coordinator Elvie Tyler. “This activity promotes island sustainability by providing an opportunity for residents to purchase local produce which will eventually reduce our reliance on imported products.”

The event is open to the public and runs from 9am to 3:00p.m.
