UOG Offers Online Chemistry Course in Fall 2011

Guam - The University of Guam College of Natural and Applied Sciences offers its first online chemistry course for non-science majors during fall semester 2011. CH 194 Chemistry and Society is an introductory course that counts as a general education science course and is intended for non-science majors who might not have a background in chemistry. The course covers three main areas:

* Basic Principles of Chemistry: introduces students to the building blocks of matter, chemical bonding, intermolecular forces, acids and bases, and organic chemistry.

* Modern Applications of Chemistry: explains, in a general manner, the input of chemistry in the production of energy, food, drugs, and chemicals for household use and agriculture.

* Environmental Issues of Chemistry: highlights the environmental implications of modern applications of chemicals in society. Topics included in this discussion include air, water and poisons.
