Congresswoman Bordallo Visits Servicemembers from Guam in Afghanistan
Guam - Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo Monday returned from a Congressional Delegation visit to Afghanistan.
The CODEL went to assess the progress of Operation Enduring Freedom and visit servicemembers in the region. Congresswoman Bordallo led the delegation and was joined by Congressman Vernon Buchanan of Florida, Congressman Duncan Hunter of California, Congressman Larry Kissell of North Carolina, Congressman John Adler of New Jersey, and Congressman Christopher Lee of New York.
“I always appreciate the opportunity to visit with our men and women serving in harms way,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “During the Congressional Delegation, I met with servicemembers from Guam serving in Afghanistan. I also spoke with Lieutenant Governor Michael Cruz who is deployed as a medical surgeon in the region. The Congressional Delegation received country and security briefings from U.S. military commanders.
" The Congressional Delegation reminded us of the great task that remains to secure Afghanistan and provide stability to the country. The briefings and findings from this delegation will be helpful as the Congress further deliberates our future military and civilian strategy for Afghanistan. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that our men and women have the appropriate training and equipment to ensure the mission is a success. We have to make sure our strategy for Afghanistan tackles the core issues facing that country.”
